The Easiest Status Matches to Get in the US

A status match is a loyalty program recognizing elite status you already hold elsewhere and giving you a comparable tier, sometimes outright and sometimes as a trial you have to complete. Done right, it costs nothing. You fill in a form, upload proof, and wait.

"Easy" here means four things: the program runs a standing (not one-off) match, it accepts common source statuses, it uses a simple online or email process, and it either needs no challenge or has a challenge a normal traveler can complete. Here are the US-relevant matches that score best on those measures, followed by the rules that trip people up.

First rule of every match: you must actually hold the status you submit. Every program on this list asks for proof showing your name, the program and your current tier. Submitting someone else's status, or edited screenshots, can get both accounts closed and points forfeited.

1. MSC Voyagers Club: the easiest match into a top cruise tier

What you need: current elite status with an eligible cruise line, hotel program or tour operator. MSC's US FAQ says airline cards aren't considered. What you can get: up to Diamond, the second-highest tier. Blue Diamond can't be reached by matching. Challenge: none. The matched tier is applied without a sailing requirement. Limit: once per person, for life. MSC's FAQ says multiple submissions won't be accepted. Turnaround: MSC's FAQ says approval normally arrives by email within 72 hours.

MSC is unusual because it runs the match year-round and accepts hotel status. A Hilton Diamond or World of Hyatt Globalist, for example, is widely reported to match to MSC Diamond. Marriott's top tiers are reported to match only to MSC Gold. MSC decides the mapping case by case using its conversion table, so treat these as likely outcomes, not promises.

Watch-out: You only get one try. If your current status would only get you MSC Gold, consider waiting until you hold a status that maps to Diamond (see When Is the Best Time to Status Match?).

2. Hilton Honors: a 90-day Gold trial with a path to Diamond

What you need: to be a Hilton Honors Base or Silver member who has never done a Hilton status match, plus proof of elite status with a competing program. What you get: Gold for 90 days. Challenge: Hilton's help center says 6 nights within the 90 days gets you Gold, and 12 nights gets you Diamond. Status earned this way is reported to run through March 31 of the second year after the match (March 31, 2028 for 2026 matches). Check the dates on your own confirmation. Limit: once per member.

It's easy because the threshold is low. Twelve nights in three months is one business trip and a couple of weekends. If you aren't planning any Hilton stays, the trial is 90 days of Gold breakfasts and nothing more.

3. Hertz Gold Plus Rewards: a match from other rental programs

What you need: elite status with a competing car rental program. Hertz's match page lists Avis President's Club, Enterprise Platinum, National Executive Elite, Sixt Diamond and Europcar Privilege Elite as matching to President's Circle. Lower competitor tiers match to lower Hertz tiers. How: enroll in Gold Plus Rewards, then email proof of identity and proof of status, such as a welcome email, membership card or statement, to the address on Hertz's status match page. Validity: through December 31 of the second calendar year after approval. After that you have to meet the normal requirements or drop to Gold. Limit: only if you've never had a Hertz match, or more than five years have passed since your last one.

Easier still: many Americans don't need a match at all. Delta Diamond and Platinum Medallions get Hertz President's Circle through Delta's partnership, and Gold and Silver Medallions get Five Star. Several premium credit cards also include Hertz status (see Which Credit Cards Come With Elite Status?).

4. National Emerald Club: Executive or Executive Elite

What you need: elite status in one of the more than 40 car rental, airline and hotel programs National accepts. How: submit the form at National's status match site, status.emeraldclub.com, with a statement or membership card showing your name, tier and expiration date. Validity: National's terms say matched status runs through February 28 of the second calendar year after approval. To keep Executive Elite after that: 25 rentals or 85 rental days in the following calendar year.

National is easy because it accepts airline and hotel status, not just rental status. Travelers report that approvals often land at Executive Elite, but National doesn't publish its mapping, so that isn't guaranteed.

5. SIXT ONE: Gold or Platinum, effective right away

What you need: status in an eligible car rental, airline or hotel program. SIXT names Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Miles & More, ALL Accor and Radisson among them. What you get: SIXT ONE Gold or Platinum, depending on your source tier. SIXT says Diamond is by invitation or limited to specific partner tiers. Turnaround: SIXT says approved status is active immediately.

6. Avis Preferred: rental-to-rental matching

Avis has long matched competitor rental status. Third-party trackers report matches up to President's Club for top-tier holders of Hertz, Enterprise, Europcar and Sixt status, with Preferred Plus for mid-tier holders. We couldn't confirm a current official Avis match page while writing, so treat the details as reported. Ask Avis customer service for the current process before relying on it.

7. Casino programs: easy only if you can get there in person

Casino matches can be very valuable, because higher casino tiers carry cruise and hotel benefits. They're "easy" only in a limited sense, because most require you to show up in person at a rewards desk with a physical players card and photo ID. For example, travel press has reported a Caesars Diamond match through December 31, 2026 that requires an in-person visit to certain Atlantic City properties. Read our Casino Status Matches and Cruises guide before trying this.

Quick comparison

Program Source status needed Challenge Limit
MSC Voyagers Club Cruise, hotel or tour operator None Once per lifetime
Hilton Honors Competing hotel elite 6 nights keeps Gold / 12 nights for Diamond, within 90 days Once; Base or Silver only
Hertz Competing rental elite None to start; requalify by expiry Once per 5 years
National 40+ rental, airline or hotel programs None to start; requalify by expiry Per National's terms
SIXT ONE Rental, airline or hotel programs None to start Per SIXT's terms
Avis Competing rental elite (reported) Varies Unconfirmed

Common mistakes that make "easy" matches fail

  1. Expired or nearly expired source status. Programs want current status, and National asks to see the expiration date.
  2. Name mismatches. The name on your proof must match the account you're upgrading.
  3. Using your one lifetime shot too early. MSC and Hilton both limit you to one match. Use it when your source status is at its best and you have trips planned.
  4. Matching right before a requalification deadline. For rental matches that run "through the second calendar year," applying in January gives you nearly two years. Applying in December gives you much less.
  5. Paying someone to "match" you without status. A legitimate match is free and needs status you actually hold. If you don't hold any, the honest route is a credit card that includes status, or earning it.

FAQ

Do I need to pay anyone to do a status match? No. Every match on this page is requested directly from the program, for free, using status you already hold.

Which match should I do first? Start with the one that has the strictest limit and the most to gain. For most cruisers that's MSC, since you only get one chance. The exception is if your best source status is about to improve. In that case, wait until it does.

Can I match from a status I got through a credit card? Usually yes. Programs typically ask whether you hold the tier, not how you got it, but each program decides.

How long should I wait for a decision? MSC says about 72 hours. Hilton's trial can take longer to show on your account. Rental programs vary. Don't book a trip around a match that hasn't been approved yet.

Confirmed vs. uncertain

Confirmed from official pages: MSC's once-per-person rule, its exclusion of airline cards and its Blue Diamond exclusion; Hilton's 90-day Gold trial with 6- and 12-night thresholds and its Base/Silver eligibility; Hertz's five-year rule, its President's Circle source tiers and its validity window; National's proof requirements, validity and requalification terms; SIXT's Gold/Platinum outcomes.

Reported, not confirmed by an official page we could read: MSC's exact hotel tier mappings; Hilton's March 31 end date for matched status; Avis's current match process; casino match windows.
