MSC Yacht Club vs. Voyagers Club Diamond
People often mix these two up, and it's an easy mistake. Both are the "premium" side of MSC, and both get mentioned in the same forum threads. But they're different kinds of things:
- MSC Yacht Club is a cabin product you buy: a private, ship-within-a-ship area with its own suites, restaurant, lounge, pool deck and butler service.
- Voyagers Club Diamond is a loyalty tier you earn, or get through a status match. It gives you recognition and perks wherever you're booked on the ship.
You can be a Diamond member in an interior cabin, or a Welcome-tier member in a Yacht Club suite. This guide covers what each gets you, where they overlap, and how to decide what to spend on.
What MSC Yacht Club is
MSC describes the Yacht Club as an exclusive area on many of its ships with private spaces such as the Top Sail Lounge, a private restaurant, a private sun deck with pool and whirlpools, and butler service. You get in by booking a Yacht Club suite, priced well above regular balcony cabins.
Typical Yacht Club features (check your ship, since they vary): - Suite accommodation in the Yacht Club area - 24-hour butler service - Private lounge with drinks and snacks - Private restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner - Private pool area and sun deck - Priority embarkation and disembarkation as part of the Yacht Club experience - A drinks package as part of the fare (confirm the level for your booking)
Yacht Club is also the highest-earning booking in Voyagers Club points. MSC's general conditions put it above Aurea in its points tables.
What Voyagers Club Diamond is
Diamond is MSC's tier for members with 10,000–24,999 points, below Blue Diamond (25,000+), and the highest tier available through a status match. Under MSC's benefits material, Diamond includes:
- Priority check-in and priority luggage drop
- Priority for a complimentary cabin upgrade, subject to availability
- A specialty restaurant dinner (cruises of 4+ nights)
- An invitation to the Diamond party (4+ nights)
- Spumante and macarons, one per cabin per cruise
- A free professional photo and a chocolate gift (4+ nights)
- Priority lines at guest services and the Contact Center
- Late cabin checkout, depending on ship operations
- The 5% member booking discount (Classic and above), plus early-booking extras

Where they overlap, and where they don't
Overlap: both get you priority at embarkation. A Diamond member in Yacht Club gets both the Yacht Club process and their Diamond perks, but the Diamond priority line adds little when you already have Yacht Club's private check-in.
Blue Diamond's Yacht Club link: MSC lists Yacht Club baggage drop-off and use of the Yacht Club check-in area (subject to port operations) as Blue Diamond exclusives. That's check-in only. It doesn't give access to the Yacht Club's lounge, restaurant or pool deck.
What Diamond never does: Diamond doesn't get you into the Yacht Club's private areas. No Voyagers Club tier does. Getting in requires a Yacht Club booking.
Can you combine them?
Yes, and this is where the best value is for many travelers:
- Use your Diamond member discount on a Yacht Club fare. The 5% Voyagers Club discount applies to eligible fares from Classic up. Check that it applies to the Yacht Club fare you're looking at.
- Book 12+ months out for the early-booking extras (Silver and above): double points and $50 onboard credit per member.
- Get Diamond's specialty dinner and Diamond party on top of Yacht Club. These are separate benefits.
- Earn Yacht Club-level points toward Blue Diamond.
Which should you spend on?
Choose Yacht Club if: - You want a quieter, more upscale cruise inside a big ship. - You'd value included drinks, a butler and a private pool enough to justify the higher fare. - You're celebrating something, or sailing a route where crowds are a big concern.
Rely on Diamond (and book a regular cabin) if: - You sail MSC often and want consistent perks every time. - You prefer spending on itineraries over cabins. - You want the member discount and the Diamond extras without paying suite prices.
Do both if: you already hold Diamond and want a special sailing. Your tier keeps working, and Yacht Club adds the private experience.
Common mistakes
- Expecting Diamond to get you into the Yacht Club lounge or restaurant. It doesn't.
- Thinking Blue Diamond includes the Yacht Club. It includes check-in area and baggage drop access only, where available.
- Assuming the Yacht Club drinks package is the same on every booking. Confirm what your fare includes.
- Not adding your Voyagers Club number to a Yacht Club booking. You'd miss the discount and points.
- Counting on a Diamond "upgrade" into Yacht Club. Upgrades are subject to availability. Don't plan around one.
Cost thinking: is Yacht Club "worth it" for a Diamond member?
A simple way to compare: take the price difference between the Yacht Club suite and the cabin you'd otherwise book, and set it against what you'd actually spend or value on board.
- Drinks: if Yacht Club's included drinks replace a package you'd otherwise buy, subtract that package's cost.
- Dining: Yacht Club's private restaurant replaces the main dining room for many guests. If you'd otherwise pay for specialty dining most nights, subtract some of that too.
- Space and quiet: this is the part that's hard to price and the main reason to book Yacht Club. Many guests who book it once keep coming back for it.
- What you'd lose: nothing from Diamond. Your tier benefits still apply on a Yacht Club booking.
If the remaining premium is more than the quiet and service are worth to you, a balcony in Aurea with your Diamond perks may be the better value.
Points angle
Yacht Club bookings earn the most Voyagers Club points in MSC's tables, more than Aurea. For a Diamond member working toward Blue Diamond (25,000 points), occasional Yacht Club cruises, especially 10+ night ones, can speed up progress considerably. Booking more than 12 months out adds double points and onboard credit for Silver and above, which makes the points benefit larger still.
FAQ
Can a Diamond member visit a friend in the Yacht Club? Access to Yacht Club areas is by key card and booking. Your tier doesn't give access. Ask Yacht Club staff about any guest policy on board.
Does Yacht Club count toward Diamond if I'm not there yet? Yes, through points. Yacht Club earns the most points per cruise in MSC's tables.
Is the Yacht Club the same on every ship? No. Layout, spaces and inclusions vary by ship. Check the specific ship page.
Confirmed vs. uncertain
Confirmed (MSC sources): Yacht Club is a bookable ship-within-a-ship experience with private spaces; Diamond's point band and benefits; Blue Diamond's Yacht Club check-in and baggage drop exclusives; the 5% member discount for Classic and above; Yacht Club earns the most points.
Varies or uncertain: exact Yacht Club inclusions by ship and fare (especially the drinks package level); whether the member discount applies to a particular Yacht Club fare.
